2026 Selective HS and Opportunity Class Applications Open

Applications will be open each year from November to February (the following year) for both selective high school and opportunity class placement. Applications for selective high school and opportunity class entry in 2026 will be open from 7 November 2024 to 21 February 2025. This change to the application period means that parents and carers will now need to apply for opportunity class placement when their child is in Year 3 (or by the end of Week 4, Term 1 when their child is in Year 4). This change applies to students currently in Year 3. For selective high school placement, parents and carers will continue to apply when their child is in Year 5 and can now apply when their child is in year 6 until the end of Week 4, Term 1. Parents and carers will still apply online using the Selective high school and opportunity class placement application website. There will be no late applications. KEY DATES - APPLYING FOR ENTRY IN 2026 7 November 2024 to 21 February 2025 - parents and carers apply for selective high school or opportunity class entry in 2026. 2-4 May 2025 - students sit the selective high school or opportunity class placement test for entry in 2026. Term 3, 2025 - placement outcomes and offers released to parents and carers Term 1, 2026 - students who gain entry begin attending their opportunity class or selective high school For further information on selective high schools and opportunity classes including the application process, please refer to the attached link.

Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since theend of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forceswho have died in the line of the duty. This will be done over the PA system by the School Leaders.

Striving for Excellence Assembly

School Assemblies are held on Wednesday afternoon in Week 5 of Terms 2, 3 and 4 and on Wednesday afternoon in Week 10 of Terms 1, 2 and 3. Assemblies are hosted by students and will include performances and the presentation of Platinum badges and ‘Striving for Excellence’ awards. Parents/carers of award recipients will receive an invitation to attend however, all parents/carers are welcome to attend each assembly. 1.55-2.05pm: Pedestrian gate on Burrendong Road will open for parents/carers entry 2.00pm: Striving for Excellence Assembly to commence Please be reminded it is vital for school operations and supports the safety of our students, that parents and carers adhere to event entry and departure times. We are unable to facilitate the late arrival or early departure of parents and carers. Filming/Photographing Students: Due to privacy laws, parents and carers are asked to only film/photograph their own child/ren. Parents and carers who choose to publish photos and recordings of their own children participating in school events on social media platforms, images and videos of other children should not be displayed. COVID Smart Measures : Due to current COVID smart measures, the following guidelines will be in place: * Your attendance is acknowledgement and acceptance that this event is being held in accordance with NSW Department of Education's policies and procedures, including COVID-smart measures and following current NSW Health guidance for COVID-19. I acknowledge and accept that there is a risk that I may be exposed to COVID-19 whilst attending and participating at this event. I confirm that I will not attend if displaying any symptoms of illness. * Physical distancing of adults and the wearing of a mask is strongly encouraged.
