Year 6 to Year 7 Transition

The transition from primary school to high school is an important milestone for students and their families. Our school supports this process to ensure a smooth and well-informed transition.

Below you will find helpful resources, information and links to support your child’s transition to high school. These resources are designed to guide families through the process, outline key timelines and assist with planning for a successful start to secondary education.

Moving to high school

As your child prepares to move from Year 6 to Year 7, we encourage parents and carers to watch the Year 6–7 Transition Video for Parents and Carers and read the Moving into Year 7 at a NSW Public School in 2027 brochure for detailed information.

Transition to high school

Starting high school is an exciting milestone for students and families. Moving from Year 6 to Year 7 can feel like a big change. We help every child feel confident and supported during the transition to high school.

High School transition program

We work closely with our local high school to help students feel ready. Transition to high school programs help Year 6 students get ready for Year 7. Activities may include:

  • orientation days and school tours
  • parent information sessions and meet the teacher events
  • subject tasters and classroom visits
  • peer support activities with older students.
